Before I get to the serious stuff, I think that Donald Trump’s comb-over is a perfect example of his extreme insecurity. It may be the longest comb-over in male history! We can see from shots from above and when the wind blows that he is completely bald on top. Jean-Luc Picard, Sir Patrick Stewart, demonstrated the power of accepting one’s baldness and how it demonstrates self-confidence and maybe even leadership. But we know that our corrupt, murdering President Trump has never provided ethical or effective leadership of anything.
IMPEACHMENT
There are clear and compelling reasons for impeaching Donald J Trump! If we had Republican members of Congress with the integrity and courage that Senators Barry Goldwater and Edward Brooke and Representatives Lawrence Hogan and Caldwell Butler had in 1973, President Donald J. Trump would already have been impeached and convicted!
1. The killings of alleged drug traffickers in small boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific are clearly murders. Even if convicted of drug trafficking, selling or using drugs in the United States, the offenders could not be executed.
The only attempt to legally justifying the murders is that drug gangs or Venezuela have attacked the United States. This claim is a complete and utter lie! No drug cartel has ever attacked the U.S. military, law enforcement, or even a local or federal building. Drug cartels are the same as the Mafia, criminals. They have fired on law enforcement during attempts to arrest them but that is not an attack on the United States. Trump is guilty of ordering the murders and the officers and men of the United States Navy are guilty because they implemented them.
The officers involved are people without integrity and should be court-martialed. The Commander who murdered the two men standing on the bottom of a boat he had already blown up should already have been court-martialed. That he hasn’t is clear evidence of the lack of integrity in the military and civilian leadership of the Navy!
2. Trump started the war with Iran without having any authority in the Constitution to do so.
That authority belongs exclusively to Congress. There was no immediate threat to the United States or citizens of the United States! Those are the only times that he can act without congressional authority.
In addition, he violated American law. The United Nations charter was ratified by the Senate and signed by the president in July 1945 and the Kellogg-Briand pact in 1929. They are treaties and as such laws second in authority only to the Constitution. They include:
United Nations Charter, Article 37
Should the parties to a dispute of the nature referred to in Article 33 (Which says:” any (emphasis added) dispute, the continuance of which is likely to endanger the maintenance of international peace and security”) fail to settle it by the means indicated in that Article, they shall refer it to the Security Council.
This means that if they fail to settle it peacefully then they must first go to the Security Council. Trump did not and nor did he make a serious or sustained effort to settle the dispute.
Kellogg-Briand, ARTICLE I
The High Contracting Parties solemly (sic) declare in the names of their respective peoples that they condemn recourse to war for the solution of international controversies, and renounce it, (sic) as an instrument of national policy in their relations with one another.
ARTICLE II
The High Contracting Parties agree that the settlement or solution of all disputes or conflicts of whatever nature or of whatever origin they may be, which may arise among them, shall never be sought except by pacific means.
Either of these, 1 or 2, is sufficient for his impeachment and conviction. In addition:
3. He attacked the nation of Venezuela in what was claimed to be a law enforcement action. In that “action” and on his orders our military killed about 80 people who never fired on them or any law enforcement officers. American law enforcement can never go into a drug gang’s headquarters killing everyone who might shoot at them. They can only fire when fired upon or when people with deadly weapons do not respond to their commands. These Venezuelan killings were more murders committed to kidnap two people who, even if convicted, cannot even be given the death penalty.
As a result, the United States Navy and Air Force, at least, have dishonored themselves and violated the law and their oaths. Everyone in the chain of command involved in committing the murders in the Caribbean and Pacific, the attack on the Venezuelan military, and the war against Iran should be court-martialed! I no longer trust our military to defend the Constitution or the laws of the United States! Our next honest president will have a major job cleaning these people out the officer corps of our military and reestablishing integrity from the Joint Chiefs and top commanders down to the lowest grade enlisted men and women. She or he must have the officers who committed these crimes court-martialed or at least removed from all positions of responsibility and discharged.
And where have the JAG officers been? I have not seen and can find no stories about what they said or didn’t say. Every officer should have been trained and advised that the actions they were going to take were illegal and that they have a legal and moral responsibility not to obey illegal, criminal orders. We are each responsible for our own actions. The Nuremberg trials established that, “I was just obeying orders..” is not a defense for the commission of crimes.
ICE murders and shootings
The federal government’s killing and probable murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and its response is illegal, unconstitutional and a further example of the violent, authoritarian government we now have. The local prosecutor who has jurisdiction over these shootings doesn’t seem to have aggressively pursued the evidence and prosecuted, if appropriate. I haven’t seen anything in the news about consequences for the ICE criminals. The prosecutor should have gotten an indictment and arrested any and all federal officials who are refusing to provide evidence for obstruction of justice, including Todd Lyons and Kristi Noem’s replacements.
